Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation

The Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation process is for photographers, videographers and journalists seeking accreditation for Motorsport Australia sanctioned motorsport events held around Australia.

Photographers, videographers and journalists are required to comply with the Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation Policy and all accredited media, excluding journalists, will need to purchase a new Motorsport Australia Media vest for each calendar year.

Please note: All media accreditations will be processed at the end of each month.

2024 Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation

Applications for 2024 Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation are now being accepted.

In 2023, the Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation application process was 100 per cent digital, and the application/renewal process will run the same this year, completed through the Member Portal system.

All photographers and videographers who wish to receive their vest in readiness of the new year, must submit your completed application by no later than 23:59 on Sunday 15 December.

Applications submitted on Monday 16 December or later will not be processed until midway through January, meaning vests are unlikely to be delivered until early February.

All new applications can head straight to “My Applications” on the navigation bar, click ‘create new application’ and select media accreditation.

Renewing/Upgrading your Media Accreditation

Step one:

Head to the login page for the Motorsport Australia Member Portal here.

Step two,

Simply log in to the portal and click the “Renew” button within the Licences and Accreditations section on the left of the dashboard.

Please note that renewing members do not need to provide a link to a gallery/portfolio in the “Other Details” page during the process.

If you are wanting to upgrade, you can head to “My Applications” on the navigation bar, click ‘create new application’ and select media accreditation.

Those who are wanting an upgrade will need to provide published material that showcases their work.

We would highly recommend you do not use the auto fill option in your browser when filling out your applications and that you fill out everything manually.

Clearing cache and cookies can also help you navigate through the process if you are having issues.

Follow the prompts to renew your accreditation.

Step three:

Download the Motorsport Australia app to your device. Login using your member portal details.

Your card will appear and can be used to show event organisers, along with your hi-vis vest (photographers only).

Why Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation?

There are several benefits in having Media Accreditation:

You receive personal accident insurance through Motorsport Australia which provides for a certain amount of compensation in the event that you are injured. Without this insurance you will not be covered by Motorsport Australia for any injuries you suffer at an event.
Having Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation makes a clear statement to event organisers about the quality of your portfolio, that you are bound by the Media Accreditation Policy and that you are endorsed by Motorsport Australia. Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation is recognised by event organisers.
Many event organisers may restrict access to certain areas of an event to those who hold Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation. Those without Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation may not be able to access areas beyond those available to general spectators.

Note: Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation does not entitle holder automatic entry to events such as Supercars, Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix or Shannons SpeedSeries. It is highly recommended that Accredited Media contact the event organiser or the event's media personnel before going to an event.

All media accreditations will be processed at the end of each month.

Media Accreditation Policy

Photographers, videographers and journalists renewing or applying for Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation MUST read the Policy before renewing or applying for accreditation.

The Policy contains important information about the application process as well as outlining key rules which you must follow at each event to enhance your safety.

Motorsport Australia Accredited Media will also be required to wear their Motorsport Australia media vest at events at all times.

Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) / Drone Operator Policy

Commonly referred to as 'drones', a RPA can be used at a Motorsport Australia permitted event providing the RPA is operated within the guidelines of the Motorsport Australia policy. The Policy contains important information about the application process as well as outlining key rules which you must follow at each event to enhance your safety.

NSW hill climb title battle heating up

The Motorsport Australia NSW Hill Climb Championship heads to the Mountain View Motorsport Complex for the fifth round of the 2021 season this weekend with 41 competitors locked in.

This is the first time the championship heads to Grafton since 2019 and the event will proudly host the state’s best hill climbers race on the track’s brand new surface for the first time.

The Grafton Sporting Car Club has been working overtime in the past few weeks to get the complex ready for its biggest round of the year, after recent storms in NSW caused significant damage.

However with a number of successful working bees, the track is now good to go and event secretary Kerry Anne Merry was eager to get started.

“Everything is looking good. The working bees have been successful and I am proud of all of the volunteers who helped fix the road to get everything looking spick and span – it’s been a real team effort,” Merry said.

“Last year we managed to get our full club season in, but missed out on the state round, so it’s wonderful to have everyone back here. It's great for the town and great for the club.

“We’re also really excited to show off our brand new surface and we’re excited to see what the best drivers in the state can do on it.”

While the surface itself is one of the more appealing factors behind this event, there is no doubt that the major drawcard is the battle between two of the country’s biggest names in Dean Amos and Dean Tighe.

The two drivers headline the impressive field of entrants and sit right next to each other on top of the standings after four rounds.

Although Amos enjoyed a fruitful start to the season with a three-round winning streak, Tighe currently occupies top spot after a dramatic victory last month in Kempsey that saw Amos hit a tree and finish 14th.

The two then battled again during last month’s Motorsport Australia Queensland Championship and it was Amos who enjoyed his third title in four years at the expense of local boy Tighe.

Despite Amos having a slight mental edge over Tighe at the moment, the Queenslander remains hopeful of overturning things ahead of the Motorsport Australia Hill Climb Championship later this year as he continues to show progress in his new car.

“I am feeling good for this weekend. My car is far lighter than Dean’s and on a smaller track like Grafton, I certainly feel like it is better suited,” Tighe said.

“I have been within grasp of Dean countless of times and I feel that outside of a slight error I made on my fastest lap in Queensland, I could have gone sub 46. The new car is getting quicker and I feel it.

“I really enjoy the rivalry that we have. It adds just that little bit of extra spice to each round. Yes he has the edge over me now, but it’s close and there have been multiple times over the past few years that he has had to win on his final run.

“It’s important that I beat him this weekend. Not only because I lead the State Championship, but because I want to have the mental edge over him for the national championship.

“Outside of that, I really enjoy running the NSW Championship. They go to some fantastic tracks at great little towns. I think it’s fantastic that we can support these clubs and towns.”

A total of 59 competitors will be competing on the weekend with the remaining 18 part of a multi club event with each driver to get between four and five runs.

Spectators can enter Saturday’s practice session free of charge, while tickets for Sunday’s action start from $15 per adult.
