Adam Trewhella has claimed back-to-back wins in the popular Marsue Transport Make Tracks Bencubbin 400 after taking out the 2023 edition over the weekend.

The reigning Motorsport Australia WA Off Road Championship (WAORC) champion was back at his best in the challenging 400-kilometre event as he and Craig Trewhella claimed a win of almost three minutes.

With more than 50 crews contesting the two-day event, which saw them complete five laps of the challenging 80 kilometre course over three sections, the Trewhellas’ victory was built off the back of a strong start.

Taking out second place were Prolite winners Stephen Ketteridge-Hall and Haylee Cowling, while Marcus Wells and Matt Ward rounded out the podium a further seven and a half minutes off.

Although Trewhella comfortably finished ahead of Ketteridge-Hall and picked up two section wins, it was hardly a walk in the park for the number one seed who was made to work for his win.

Trewhella started off strong with a victory in Prologue, beating round two winners Troy Higgins and John Simmons by 11 seconds.

The two crews were very close together in the opening half of the first section with just seconds separating them until Higgins had a roll over in the final part and failed to record a time – ending his hopes of a victory.

A strong section from Harleigh Uren saw the Trophy Truck star slot into second place ahead of Ketteridge-Hall after recording a time 47 seconds slower than the leader - only to find himself out of the event after an incident in section two.

It was in that same section that Trewhella effectively won the event, having dominated the section to beat a returning Higgins and Ketteridge-Hall by two and a half minutes, extending his lead to more than three minutes.

For the final section, it was about making it to the end as he nursed the car to the finish despite Ketteridge-Hall piling on the pressure and finishing two minutes ahead in second place overall.

Winning the final section of the day was Higgins, who had recovered from his Saturday rollover to end the event on a high.

Wells also enjoyed a solid final section, crossing the line with the fourth fastest time to secure consecutive top five finishes and confirm his first podium finish for the year.

Making up the outright top five behind the podium were Prolite runner-up finishers Jared Percival and Matt Wayne Batson in fourth and Pro Buggy drivers Craig and Monica Wells.

In sixth place overall was SXS Pro winner Paul Delacy and Jay Constantini, while Simon Jones and Uwe Kreusch were the next highest class winners – the Performance 2WD victors crossed the line 15the overall.

Not far behind Jones and Kreusch were a quartet of class winners with Wayne Holt (Sportslite), Peer and Oliver Horn (Extreme 4WD), James Pudwell and Brody Richardson (Extreme 4WD) and Steve Pacey and Dave Chaffer (Super 1650) crossing the line 17th to 20th respectively.
