State Panel Members

Motorsport Australia is simplifying the State Panel membership process to make it more accessible for members and easier to administer.

The key changes are:

  • The previous nomination process is being replaced with a State Panel Expression of Interest & Acceptance Form.
  • Members can submit an Expression of Interest throughout the year, allowing greater flexibility for members and Panels when opportunities arise.
  • An annual review period will continue each year, generally occurring between August/September and November, to support the formal appointment process for the upcoming term.
  • Signature requirements for nominators, seconders have been removed, reducing delays and administration.

Existing Panel members seeking to continue for an additional term will use the Expression of Interest & Acceptance Form to confirm their details, role and intention to continue, without completing the additional sections required for new members.

The governance and appointment process remains unchanged.

  • Expressions of Interest will continue to be considered through the relevant State Panel process.
  • The State Panel Chair will facilitate the progression of the Panel’s recommended appointments through the relevant State Council process.
  • All new and renewing State Panel appointments remain subject to State Council approval.

The previous process created unnecessary administration, particularly around coordinating signatures and paperwork.

The updated process removes these administrative barriers while maintaining the existing Panel and State Council approval process.

Expressions of Interest are welcome throughout the year, allowing Panels to consider members when opportunities or needs arise.

Expressions of Interest received outside the annual review period may be considered when appropriate or included in the next annual review process.

Yes, the annual review process will continue each year, generally occurring between August/September and November.

Members wishing to be considered as part of the annual appointment cycle should submit their Expression of Interest by 1 November.

They will not be required to provide:

  • A new relevant experience statement

All new and renewing appointments remain subject to:

  • Consideration through the relevant State Panel process
  • Progression of recommendations through the relevant governance process
  • State Council ratification/approval

You will receive an automated confirmation email once your Expression of Interest has been submitted.

The State Administration Coordinator will provide your Expression of Interest to the relevant State Panel Chair for consideration.

The process is then:

  1. The State Panel considers the Expression of Interest.
  2. Recommended appointments progress through the relevant State Council process.
  3. The State Panel Chair contacts the candidate with the outcome once the process is complete.

You will receive an automated confirmation email when your Expression of Interest is submitted.

Motorsport Australia administration will contact you only if information on your form is incomplete or requires clarification.

The next communication regarding your Expression of Interest will generally come from the relevant State Panel Chair.

The timeframe depends on when your Expression of Interest is submitted and the relevant State Council meeting schedule.

Outside the annual review period:
Your Expression of Interest may be considered when appropriate and progressed to the next available State Council meeting, or deferred to the annual review process.

During the annual review period:
Expressions of Interest are generally progressed as part of the annual appointment process, with appointments typically considered at the final State Council meeting of the year or the first meeting of the following year.

Timelines vary between States. Members can contact their Club State Council Delegate or Motorsport Australia State Administration Coordinator for State Council meeting dates.
