What is the FIA Girls on Track Career Development and Mentoring program?

The FIA Girls on Track Career Development and Mentoring program is a unique opportunity for young women aged 16-22 to explore careers in motorsport. It includes behind-the-scenes garage tours, networking with industry professionals, Q&A sessions with guest speakers, discussions on career pathways, and mentoring opportunities from esteemed Girls on Track Ambassadors.

The program will take place on Thursday, 13 March 2025, at Albert Park during the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

Young women aged 16-22 who are passionate about pursuing a career in motorsport or related industries are encouraged to apply.

This program is open to Australian Permanent Residents and Citizens currently residing in Australia only.

Applications can be submitted via the 2025 Girls on Track Career Development and Mentoring form, which can be accessed below or via this link. Applications close at 11:59 PM AEDT on Monday, 6 January 2025.

Successful applicants will be notified via email by Monday, 20 January 2025.

Yes, only 20 participants will be selected. The selection process will consider factors like passion for motorsport, career aspirations, and completion of prerequisites (see next question).

Yes. Applicants must:

  • Obtain a free Motorsport Australia Officials Licence.
  • Complete the associated General Officials Training Module.

Both steps must be completed for your application to be considered.

To apply for an Officials Licence, and complete the training module, visit, Motorsport Australia Officials or follow the steps below.

 

  1. Create an account or Log in to the Motorsport Australia Member Portal

  2. Head to ‘My Applications’ then + ‘Create New Application’ and select Officials Licence. Click ‘Apply’ and then follow the steps to apply for a General Official

  3. Select ’Training’ to access the Motorsport Australia Learning Management System. Select ‘Courses’, then under ‘Officials’ you can self-enrol in the General Official Module

  4. Complete the course

Participants will experience:

  • Behind-the-scenes tours of the Kick F1 Team garage and a meet and greet with its drivers.
  • Networking opportunities with industry professionals.
  • Q&A sessions with esteemed guest speakers.
  • Career pathway discussions and mentorship opportunities.
  • Each Girls on Track Ambassador will select a participant for ongoing mentorship after the event.

No prior motorsport experience is required. The program is open to anyone passionate about pursuing a career in motorsport, regardless of their background or level of experience.

The program is free of charge for selected participants. However, participants are responsible for their own transport, accommodation, and meals.

Selected participants will receive a detailed itinerary and packing list closer to the event. Essentials may include:

  • Comfortable clothing and footwear.
  • Notebook and pen.
  • Any required identification or confirmation emails.

Participants will have the opportunity to continue networking with professionals they meet during the program. Additionally, selected participants will receive post-event mentorship from Girls on Track Ambassadors.
