Historic Log Book
It records the basic specification of the car, its Historic group, its competition history and its chain of ownership. All historic vehicles must have a historic log book.
Certificate of Description (CoD)
It applies to all cars with a competition history, plus Group T (competition variants). Vehicles in Groups N & S only require a historic logbook and are covered by vehicle specification sheets.
The Certificate of Description covers the detailed technical specification of the car, in words and in pictures, and provides the information required for eligibility checking. CoDs are sub-divided into three types according to their originality, specification and visual appearance of the subject vehicle, and the HEC and HPBEC reserve the right to determine what grade of CoD will be issued.
Application and Process
The process for applying for a Group N or S Historic log book is as follows:
- Obtain a copy of the Specification Sheet for your vehicle and ensure your car meets the specifications listed (see menu to the left for Group N and Group S Spec Sheets)
- Complete a Group N & S log book application form
- Obtain photographs of the car as specified on the application form
- Complete the relevant Safety Cage form (if applicable)
- Contact a Historic Eligibility Officer to arrange an inspection of the vehicle
- Contact a Scrutineer to arrange a pre-race inspection/audit
- Submit the completed application, digital photographs, safety cage paperwork, any existing log books and payments to Motorsport Australia
The cost of a historic log book is listed in the Schedule of Fees (Appendix R). Please allow 5-7 days for your application to be processed.
