CAMS Members with the urge to jump behind the wheel and lap one of Australia’s most iconic track will have the opportunity to do so at this month’s PIARC August Access.

 

Taking place at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, the August Access will feature a number of impressive club championships including the BMW E30 Racing, Supersports, Vic V8s and the National festival of Superkarts.

 

More importantly, the Phillip Island Auto Racing Club (PIARC) run event will also be hosting the special Access 111.

 

Continuing the club’s longstanding endurance history at Phillip Island, the 111km race is open to all CAMS log booked vehicles that meet set requirements, including sedans, utes, panel vans and even coupes.  

 

With qualifying and two sprint races on Saturday, followed by the endurance race on Sunday, the event is one that will allow people of all skills to get some serious track times on the famous circuit.

 

PIARC Representative Michelle Goodall believed the August Access was one of a kind and is an opportunity not to be missed.

 

“It’s the ultimate Phillip Island track time event and you’re not going have a club or another event offer this amount of time throughout the year,” Goodall said.

 

“Access events are always designed as development events where we can train new officials, new competitors and they have been relatively successful in recent years.

 

“It’s a very similar concept to our popular Phillip Island 300 event, but we have just changed the date and the format so that people can have an enduro and still have some fun.

 

“The format is simple; run what you've brung, race with a mate as a co-driver or do it yourself. As long as it’s got a CAMS log book and meet the entry and vehicle requirements, you can race.”

 

The event is not just open to individuals only, with the option of competing alongside a friend also applicable to interested parties, allowing people to race with or against family and friends.

 

Entries to the August Access close on Tuesday, 13 August and can be entered via the CAMS Member Portal. 

 

The PIARC August Access takes place at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on 17-18 August.
