After making his international debut in the 2020 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, Jordan Love has enjoyed his first race meeting since returning to Australia with a solid effort during WA Sporting Car Club’s season finale.

With more than 100 drivers competing across seven different categories at Wanneroo Raceway, Love was one of more notable entries throughout the day as he went head-to-head with his younger brother Aaron in the joint F1000 and Radicals category.

While neither brother was able to pick up any race wins in their first outing against together in many years, they constantly piled the pressure on eventual category winner Adam Lisle..

Both running in the Radicals class, Jordan and Aaron put on a compelling display all day as the latter ultimately took out round ahead of his more experienced brother, as well as season honours.

However, for Jordan it was just nice to be back racing in Australia.

“It’s nice to be home and nice to race against my brother,” Jordan said.

“We haven’t competed against each other competitively since the karting days. So it’s cool to be back here at Wanneroo Raceway just having a bit of fun and enjoying the sport that we love.

“We hadn’t made any side bets as we’d probably end up in a massive accident so we’re just here to enjoy the sport we love.”

Like the F1000 and Radicals, the other categories to feature as part of the club’s Night Masters enjoyed entertaining bouts as a number of series titles were decided on the night.

At the front of the 20-car Excel Cup field, a brace of wins and a second place saw Rob Landsmeer claim both the round and series ahead of race three winner Jack Clohessy.

Despite finishing second for the weekend, Clohessy was unable to break into the top three in the outright standings, finishing just behind Jake Passaris and Cameron Atkins.

In Formula Ford, round winner Mark Pickett fell agonisingly short of securing the outright title after Joshua Matthews’ three fourths earned him enough points for the category title. Just behind them, the battle for the final spot of the podium saw Andrew Malkin beat Craig Jorgensen.

Despite not being able to win the season finale, Michael Howlett came away with the HQ Holdens outright title courtesy of his round second place, while the round winner Michael Woodbridge finished the season just behind him.

It was a similar story in the event’s most exotic category, the Sports Cars, as John Roderick’s runner-up round placing saw him comfortably secure the title ahead of winner Richard Bloomfield and Arthur Abrahams. Also running in the same set of races was the Sports Sedans where Grant Hill did enough to win the title over Ron Moller.

In the remaining categories, Paul Kluck grabbed the Street Cars title as a result of his consistency, outright Saloon Cars victor Grant Johnson finish  behind Brock Boley for round honours and Marc Watkins secure the Saloon Cars Pro/Am class title after winning the final round.
