The Repco Supercars Championship will resume its 2021 season with a bang as over four consecutive weekends at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Starting on 29 October, all the circuit’s various layouts and dedicated lighting will be utilised during the four separate rounds, which will include a variety of race formats and regulations, as well as having multiple races run under lights.

In a major boost for motorsport fans, spectators will be welcome to all four Sydney Motorsport Park rounds.

While Supercars is working closely with Motorsport Australia and health authorities on required COVID-safe measures, Supercars CEO Sean Seamer was excited for what would be a big month.

“It is fitting that we return to racing at Sydney Motorsport Park, as we did in 2020. Those first races produced some of the best entertainment in years, and this time will be no different,” Seamer explained.
 
“The venue is world-class and under its new permanent lighting makes for spectacular viewing for fans at the circuit and watching at home.
 
“First and foremost, we are happy to be back, but we will make sure we use everything that SMSP has to offer to put on the best possible show.”

Following the last round of the four to run on 21 November, Supercars teams will then have one week of rest before heading to Mount Panorama for the Repco Bathurst 1000.

Like 2020, the great race will be the championship’s season finale, however this year’s event will see a six-day motorsport extravaganza take place in conjunction with Australian Racing Group (ARG), who promotes national categories such as TCR Australia and S5000.

The Repco Bathurst 1000 won’t be the only place for fans to get a glimpse of the powerful S5000 cars, with the open wheelers also being confirmed on the bill of the last Sydney Motorsport Park round for the year.


Three races will be contested for the S5000 cars with each counting towards the rejuvenated Tasman Series, which makes its Australian return after 45 years.

The series will have two rounds in its highly anticipated return with the first to be held during the last of the four Sydney Motorsport Park rounds, while the second round will feature in the Repco Bathurst 1000 six-day event.

Competitors in the series will be fighting it out for a hefty prize fund of $50,000, with $30,000 to go to the overall winner.  

S5000 Championship Manager Liam Curkpatrick was thrilled to have the category part of two Supercars rounds this year and was looking forward to the iconic series' return.

“Despite the calendar shuffles this year, we have worked hard to make sure that our original concept of a two-round S5000 Tasman Series could be maintained, so this is an excellent outcome,” Curkpatrick said.
 
“Joining Supercars at Sydney Motorsport Park will ensure that the return of the Tasman Series launches at a high-profile event, with live TV, and at a great drivers’ track that everyone loved when we raced there in May this year.  
 
“We will then head to Bathurst eight days later, ensuring the two-events remain in a compact timeframe to make it easier for teams and drivers traveling from interstate.  
 
“Even though our initial plans have changed, we are confident that the return of the Tasman Series will be spectacular for our competitors and for fans watching at the circuit or on TV.”
