Motorsport Australia has received funding to expand its FIA Girls on Track program as part of the New South Wales Government’s ‘Her Sport Her Way’ Grant Program.

The Program is providing funding of more than $2.5 million over four years to 24 Sporting Organisations within NSW to boost participation, promote leadership and encourage inclusivity for women in sport.

With grants of between $10,000 – $50,000 available under the Program, Motorsport Australia was successful in its application for FIA Girls on Track.

The Program aims to inspire and encourage an interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects and industries amongst schoolgirls, with the aim of increasing female participation in these sectors, with multiple events happening not just in NSW, but across the country.

Motorsport Australia CEO Eugene Arocca was pleased the organisation received  funding to help support the Girls on Track program.

“The FIA Girls on Track Program has been growing participation in our sport since 2018 and we have seen a rise in the number of girls and women becoming involved in motorsport as a result of the program,” Arocca said.

“We thank the NSW Government for its support of this innovative program which promotes more women being involved  in motorsport.”

“Motorsport Australia is committed to increasing the participation of women in our sport and this funding support will assist us in achieving that goal.”

As part of the announcement, Minister for Tourism and Sport Stuart Ayres was proud the NSW Government could further support women in sport.

“Women’s sport is going through a period of exponential growth and change,” Mr Ayres said.

“The NSW Government is fully committed to being at the forefront of this growth and leading change through programs and investment that makes women’s sport safer and more inclusive for anyone that wants to lace up a boot or pick up a cricket bat.

“These grants will enable sports to develop innovative programs to get more women and girls involved in sport as players, coaches and officials.”
