Ricciardo’s Racers wrap for 2018

It's been a solid year of growth for Ricciardo's Racers.

Ricciardo’s Racers has wrapped its 2018 with the final four sessions ending the CAMS initiative’s already successful year on a high.

In the most recent set of national school holidays, the four events were spread across the east coast of Australia with Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and Sydney all hosting junior drive days.

Kicking off the final sessions for 2018 was another session at the iconic Sandown Raceway in Victoria on 28 September, with this year’s CAMS Australian Endurance Champion and Supercars co-driver Tony D’Alberto guiding the teenagers.

Sandown’s second appearance for 2018 was off the back of the opening Ricciardo’s Racers event for the year, with both sessions sold out.

Following on from September’s Sandown session, the program moved up north to the Norwell Motorplex in Queensland on 3 October before heading back south to Tasmania’s Symmons Plains three days later, with Both both states hosting a Level 1 and 2 course

The final event for 2018 was held at Sydney Motorsport Park on 8 October, with Level 1 and 2 sessions hosted.

The Sydney event was one of the most attended drive days of the year, with more than 30 teenagers displaying their driving skills under the guidance of professional instructors.

It was another highly successful year for the program, which saw 167 young people take part across all eight sessions. An increase of 17 on last year’s total participation.

While the drivers themselves took out a lot from the sessions, parents were also impressed with the program’s results and structure, including Sydney parent Lyn Wong.

“Jayden thoroughly enjoyed learning from the best instructors he could ask for, and was super stoked he set the fastest motorkhana time of the day,” Wong said.

“It was fantastic outcome because it was his very first time behind the wheel and now he can’t wait to complete a Level 3 course next year.”

With more sessions to be added into 2019’s already busy schedule, parents can express their interest and register their child into the program.
