More than 175 competitors across eight categories will hit the famous Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit later this month for the popular 2018 Island Magic.
From Improved Production and Sports Sedans to Formula Vee, there will be a lot for fans to look forward to, as competitors race on the circuit for one of the last times this year.
Headlining the entertaining list of categories is the Historic Touring Cars, with nearly 50 vehicles making-up the diverse field of both Australian and international cars.
Chev Camaro pilot Aldo De Paoli will make his first appearance at the iconic circuit and will be full of confidence going into the round, following his maiden round victory at Historic Sandown earlier this month.
There will be a large variety of sports cars on show throughout the weekend, with Sports Sedans boasting the next largest field of 36 cars for their special 50K Plate event.
Some big names will line up in the 26-field Sports Cars category including 2018 Australian GT Trophy Series winner Nick Kelly and runner-up Matthew Stoupas, while Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia regular Jordan Love will drive alongside his brother Aaron, who finished third in the 2018 CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship.
Also competing in the entertaining category is gun and 2018 Victorian Sports Cars champion Ryan How, who will team up with Supercars endurance driver Tony D’Alberto,
Formula Vee will also have 26 drivers competing, with 2018 Victorian champion Heath Collinson and runner-up Jake Rowe headlining the local talent ahead of the standalone event.
Formula Ford and Formula Ford 1600 have a combined field of 19 drivers hitting the track, with Liam McLellan and Peter Fitzgerald the drivers to watch as well as teenager Courtney Prince who’s looking to end the year on a positive note.
The Improved Production class will hold a 14 car-field while the Porsche 944 Challenge out the eight categories with 12 cars competing in their final round for 2018.
Current leader Cameron Bellar, Jamie Westaway Mark Taubitz are all in the running to claim the title, which is set to go right down to the wire.
With a variety of categories and cars expected to keep thousands of car racing enthusiasts entertained across the weekend, Phillip Island Auto Racing Club President Geoff Bull said he's looking forward to the season-closing event.
“Island Magic is a fitting conclusion to the 2018 racing season and a memorable sporting event for competitors and spectators,” Bull said.
“This is not just for car racing fans but also for families who want to enjoy the weekend on Phillip Island and experience everything it has to offer.”
Tickets to Island Magic cost $30 and accompanied children under 16 are free.
Documentation takes place on Friday, 23 November at Ramada Resort, before the two-day event kicks off on 24-25 November at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
