TCR Australia will hold seven rounds in 2019 - all of which will be at the Shannons Nationals.

TCR Australia has confirmed how its races will be structured when it makes its debut on the Shannons Nationals in 2019.

Three sprint races will be held each weekend across seven rounds next year, with a highly anticipated series debut at Sydney Motorsport Park on 17-19 May.

One of the newest categories to race on the Shannons Nationals calendar in 2019, TCR has also confirmed Michelin as its official supplier.

“We are very pleased to announce a prestigious and world-renowned brand such as Michelin to be our official supplier to TCR Australia from next year,” Australian Racing Group Director Matt Braid said.

“There was significant interest in the control supply agreement for the category, and we feel very privileged to have Michelin as our inaugural partner.”

Michelin Motorsports Director for Asia=Pacific Patrick Dias said Michelin was proud to be involved in the new series.

“We are very excited about partnering with the TCR Australia category and vehicle manufacturers that serve it,” Dias said.

“We use motorsport as a laboratory for our development. The data collected during races allows engineers to work on new technologies which are carried over to our road .

“Michelin’s interest in the TCR championship is based on two chief considerations. First of all, TCR’s international status provides Michelin with visibility not only in the world’s mature markets, such as but also in the fast-emerging markets of South America and southern Asia.

“Secondly, the philosophy behind the TCR series enables cars derived from production models to compete, and the idea of racing with cars that are similar to their road-going counterparts – fits perfectly with the Michelin group’s vision.”
