Bahrain welcomes inaugural Nations Cup

Australians Brent and Stephen Grove will have their chance for international glory in Bahrain.
Australians Brent and Stephen Grove will have their chance for international glory at the Bahrain International Circuit ahead of the inaugural FIA GT Nations Cup this weekend.
The father-son team will be representing Australia in the Herberth Motorsport prepared Porsche GT3R after being selected by CAMS earlier this year.
With the final entry list being recently released, the Groves will be up against drivers from 17 other countries across five continents including the United Kingdom, Mexico Japan.

The nation versus nation concept will involve a busy schedule as part of the 2018 Bahrain GT Festival, with two practice sessions and two qualifying sessions setting up three competitive races.
The first of the three races will occur on Friday evening before Saturday morning’s second race sets up the one hour Grand Final on Saturday evening, which will determine the first ever Nations Cup champion.
The festival is expecting thousands of fans to attend the circuit for the FIA GT Nations Cup, the event the won’t be the only entertainment available.
Joining the prestigious Nations Cup will be the GT4 International Cup and the Bahrain Classic Challenge, each having two races across the event.

While the festival will welcome competitors from 18 different countries, the variety of impressive GT3 machinery will also bring in fans to the circuit, with seven GT manufacturer giants represented in the Nations Cup.
Ferrari headline the 18 car grid with half the field choosing the 488 GT3 as their weapon of choice, while Lamborghini, Nissan, Mercedes, McLaren Porsche make up the remaining nine cars.
The Groves one of two teams in the Porsche GT3R, with China representatives Li Chao and Ye Hongli also competing in the Herbeth Motorsport prepared cars.
