“Renault has a massive history in motor sport, so to be part of the next step of their Formula 1 journey is an exciting challenge." - CAMS Ambassador Daniel Ricciardo.
The Renault F1 Team has overnight unveiled its 2019 colours alongside their driver line-up of German Nico Hulkenberg and Australia’s Daniel Ricciardo.
Ricciardo, a CAMS Ambassador, will be acquainted with his new R.S.19 next week at a test in Barcelona from Monday 18 February, in what will be his first on-track appearance in a Renault since announcing his shock move away from Red Bull in the middle
of last year.
“Everything I learnt in 2018 will make me a better version of myself in 2019,” Ricciardo said.
“The difference will be a more mature person. I have more clarity of where I’m going and I aim for that to be shown with good results on track.
“I feel a lot of positive pressure and expectation to do good things, but that’s something I’m looking forward to taking on.”
Despite scoring two race wins and two pole positions, the 2018 season was difficult for the West Australian after facing numerous technical problems aboard his Red Bull. Ricciardo is realistic about his move to Renault, but is inspired by his new surroundings
“Renault has a massive history in motor sport, so to be part of the next step of their Formula 1 journey is an exciting challenge,” Ricciardo said.
“I’m here to do a job on track and drive as fast as possible, but I would like to bring the team energy. I want to put a spring in everyone’s step because that’s part of my job and also my character.
“I aim to be able to get the team to work that extra bit harder, put in more effort and rally everyone together. I’d like to be a catalyst for positive energy.”
All eyes will be on Ricciardo’s Renault debut in the season opening Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019 from 14–17 March.
