Wall Racing has announced another purchase of a Honda Civic Type R TCR ahead of the inaugural TCR Australia series.

Wall Racing has announced another purchase of a Honda Civic Type R TCR ahead of the inaugural TCR Australia series.

The new addition will be the Sydney-based team’s second Honda Civic set to line up for the 2019 TCR Australia season, after receiving the first ahead of the Series’ launch at Sydney Motorsport Park in November last year.

Coming directly from the Honda’s official homologation team J.A.S Motorsport in Italy, the brand-new Civic will soon arrive at Wall Racing’s headquarters in Sydney.

In what was a breakthrough deal for the team, Wall Racing also secured an exclusive partnership with J.A.S Motorsport, making them the Australian agent for the Italian outfit’s future Honda TCR vehicles.

Wall Racing team owner David Wall was thrilled with the new partnership, with the team’s next goal in finding drivers to compete in the series.

“We’re pleased to have secured a second Honda Civic Type R for the 2019 TCR Australia Series,” Wall said.

“It is an exciting new championship to Australia and we are getting closer to locking down drivers to fill the seats.

“At the moment, we’ll start the season by running two cars ourselves, but we have the capabilities of running up to five, so we’ll just see what the interest levels are like in the coming weeks.

“We’re happy to run multiple cars and service other Hondas at the events. They don’t have to be run by our team. We are being very flexible with our customers.

“I’m working on getting some ‘professional’ drivers in the cars. I feel that it is important to have a strong line-up of drivers, but we’re also open to amateur racers too. The category is user-friendly and cost-effective, and now with the TV deal on SBS in place, there’s even more reason to compete.

“I have to thank the team at J.A.S Motorsport for its assistance with securing the Hondas. They are an extremely well built car and have proven their competitiveness all around the world.”

With a host of drivers already showing interest in jumping behind the Wall Racing Honda Civics, the team will be looking to lock down these drivers ahead of the opening round in May.

It is set to be a busy year for the David Wall-owned team with the TCR campaign adding to its Carrera Cup, GT3 Cup Challenge and CAMS Australian GT Championship commitments.

The inaugural TCR Australia season kicks off on May 17-19 at Sydney Motorsport Park as part of the first Shannons Nationals in 2019
