Nathan Morcom is the latest driver with international experience to join TCR Australia.

Former World Time Attack winner and Bathurst 6 Hour champion Nathan Morcom is the latest driver to join the inaugural TCR Australia Series.

Morcom has joined HMO Customer Racing for the seven-round season and will be behind the wheel of the team’s two Hyundai i30 N cars.

After testing the car with the team through a variety of appearances, including the Ultimate Speed Comparison at the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019 and more recently at Sydney Motorsport Park, Morcom was thrilled to get the opportunity to be part of the new series.

“I’m really looking forward to driving the Hyundai i30 N in TCR for HMO Customer Racing in 2019,” Morcom said.

“It’s a great feeling to be part of the first outfit to race in the all new TCR Series here in Australia.

“The team is looking really good. It’s great to have the two cars here in Australia already, it provides a great platform for our engineers to prepare the cars properly leading into Round 1.

“The team is definitely looking forward to seeing how far we can push the Hyundai i30N in the season opener in May.

“The test session went well at Sydney Motorsport Park. It provided a further insight into the habits of the car, and it was pleasing to see what we put in place was running nicely within the Hyundai set up."

The 27-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the table, with starts in the Dunlop Super2 Series and a podium finish in the 2016 Australian GT Championship to go along with an Australian Endurance Championship.

Morcom also has experience all around the world with GT stints in Europe and Formula Ford appearances in the US, Formula 3 in Australia and New Zealand’s popular Toyota 86 season.

Before the new series gets underway next month in Sydney, Morcom will complete his final testing in Winton at the end of this month.

The TCR Australia series begins on 15-17 May as part of the Shannons Nationals visit to Sydney Motorsport Park and will televised live, free and in HD on SBS.
