Three categories were on track at a picture perfect Winton Raceway – take a look back at all the action from Saturday’s action at the fourth round of the Shannons Nationals.

carsales TCR Australia Series

Will Brown secured his first ever Astrontech Pole Position with a blistering lap early in qualifying, while Andre Heimgartner edged out John Martin by just 0.0008 of a second to seal second.

That led into the category’s opening race for the weekend, where Jason Bright saluted after Brown and Martin came together early in the race.

Brown was able to recover and end the day in second and maintain his overall Series lead. However, Dylan O’Keefe is certainly keeping the Queenslander honest, finishing the day in third and ensuring the battle for the first ever TCR title remains extremely close.

Races two and three will be held back-to-back on Sunday, with live coverage on SBS and through the Shannons Nationals live stream from 1pm (AEST).

Australian Prototype Series

Paul Trengove won the first race of the Australian Prototype Series’ fourth round, competing in his second round since a long layoff from racing.

Trengove was able to show off the advantage of his OTR West WR1000 on Winton’s tight track, edging out Realty Lane’s Daniel Gonzalez in a tight battle at the front of the field.

John-Paul Drake started race one on pole, but after an opening lap off track excursion, Drake found himself at the back of the field. Despite the incident, Drake ended the race in seventh.

David Barram was third in the category’s opening race.

The Australian Prototypes Series has three races on Sunday – with the middle race on Sunday not offering any Series points, instead competitors will be fighting for ‘Father’s Day/Abandoned Wives’ race trophy – which includes some extra special prizes on offer.

The winner of the round's third race will receive a $150 Endota Spa vouchers, second place a $100 Endota Spa voucher and third a bottle of French champagne. All competitors will also receive their own Haighs chocolates in honour of the special day which they can gift to their wives or fathers or even themselves.

Porsche 944 Challenge

It was Cameron Beller’s day at Winton.

The Porsche pilot was the star of the show – qualifying on pole and winning both race one and race two.

Adam Brewer also had a strong outing under the Victorian sun, finishing race one in second and race two in third.

Rounding out the podium in race one was Brad Winter in third, while Robert Holding finished race two in second ahead of Brewer.

The invitational category has two more races on Sunday to round out their weekend.
