Peugeot Sport’s official factory sponsored team will enter the Shannons Nationals visit to The Bend Motorsport Park.
When the carsales TCR Australia Series holds its season finale at The Bend Motorsport Park as part of the Shannons Nationals in November, there will be a new car in the field.

Peugeot Sport’s official factory sponsored team has confirmed they will be at The Bend, with the TCR Europe outfit to enter a Peugeot 308 TCR.

The team will stick to it roots for November’s meeting with French driver Aurélien Comte to be behind the wheel and the team’s leading engineers and mechanics supporting him.

The car, which will remain in Australia for the 2020 season, enters Australia having enjoyed a solid season in TCR Europe, with Comte picking up a number of victories and podiums throughout the year.

Director, Peugeot Citroën Racing Shop, Mayeul Tyl was excited to branch out down under after following the series in 2019.

“We are looking forward to our participation with Peugeot Sport for the Tailem Bend round,” Tyl said.

“Our driver will be Aurelien Comte. Aurelien is driving the latest model 308 TCR in TCR Europe this year. Last year he drove a 308 TCR in WTCR and was our development driver for the 308 TCR. He is a very accomplished driver with lots of experience.

“We have watched the Australian TCR series with a lot of interest. The Australian series generates a lot of attention in Europe, it is really great to see lots of different car brands and is a very professional series. We are very excited to bring our Peugeot 308 TCR to Australia.”

With Peugeot becoming the ninth car brand to enter the successful inaugural season, Australian Racing Group Director Matt Braid was thrilled to have more international interest in the series.

“It will be fantastic to have Peugeot Sport compete at the final round of the carsales TCR Australia Series at The Bend Motorsport Park,” Braid said.

“This will be a serious entry – a fully-fledged factory run car by the team at Peugeot Sport, including the team’s current works driver.

“Peugeot has been one of the quiet achievers in global TCR competition over the past few years, so we’re looking forward to how they stack up against our Australian entries.”

The Shannons Nationals and carsales TCR Australia series will hold its final round at The Bend Motorsport Park on 15-17 November.
