After starting at the traditional time slot of 11,10am for many years, the start time has officially been pushed back by 20 minutes as a way to maximises the afternoon sunlight and finish closer to the prime time television window. The new change also makes this year's running the latest start time in its illustrious 57-year history.

Craig Lowndes’ victory last year alongside Steven Richards was his seventh win in his career – putting him equal alongside Steven’s father Jim and second on the all-time winner's list – two behind legend Peter Brock’s nine.

There are five CAMS Australian Championships/Authorised Series that will race at Mount Panorama as support categories to the big race.

Two records were broken in last year's outing with Lowndes and Richards' six-hour race time smashing Richards' own record, set in 2014 alongside Mark Winterbottom, by 10 minutes.

David Reynolds was the other to walk away in the records books, posting a lap time of two minutes and six seconds. While McLaughlin posted a time three seconds faster in the 2017 top-ten shootout, Reynolds takes the cake for an in-race lap.
