The two Kelly Racing Subaru WRX STI TCR cars that have been part of this year’s carsales TCR Australia Series have found a new home with Milldun Motorsport taking over their preparation and racing.

 

The Victorian based team will make its TCR debut during next month’s Shannons Nationals at The Bend Motorsport Park after recently receiving the cars from Kelly Racing.

 

Milldun Motorsport heads into the round with a vast amount of experience with rally cars similar to the Subaru TCR machines, as well as being involved with sports cars, sports sedans and the recent debut of the S5000 category at Sandown.

 

Team owner Liam Dunn was excited to get the team into the inaugural TCR series, despite being with cars that have been problematic throughout the year.

 

“It’s really exciting to be involved in the TCR Australia Series,” Dunn said. 

 

“There is a lot of potential in the Subarus and we are really looking forward to the challenge. 

 

“The success that the category has had in its first year has been huge, and its something that we definitely want to be a part of.

 

“We’ve gone over the cars and, fundamentally, they are quite good. There is a lot of potential there and I can’t see that there’s any reason why they won't be as quick as some of the other cars in the category.”

 

Originally built in Italy by Top Run Motorsport before being sent to Australia, the cars have endured a difficult season after sustaining a number of recurring mechanical problems.

 

While CAMS Australian Rally Championship regular Molly Taylor and Supercars star Andre Heimgartner showed some potential throughout the season, Kelly Racing decided to move them on and focus on their two Holden Astra entries.

 

Milldun Motorsport are currently working on the car and communicating with a number of potential drivers to compete at The Bend Motorsport Park as part of the Shannons Nationals on 15-17 November.
