Two new TCR Alfa Romeos to join in 2020

Friday 18 October, 2019
There will be four Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloces next year.

Following a successful year in the inaugural carsales TCR Australia Series season, Ashley Seward Motorsport will expand to three Alfa Romeos in 2020.

The Victorian-based team fielded just one car this year with Dylan O’Keefe steering the #9 Giulietta Veloce to four race wins and into second place on the standings with a round to go.

The new Alfa Romeos are expected to arrive in Melbourne this month, with at least one of them a chance to compete in the season finale at The Bend Motorsport Park next month as part of the Shannons Nationals.

With a lot of interest circulating around the new series after a solid first season, team owner Ashley Seward is confident they could fill all three seats for the 2020 season

“There’s a lot of interest in TCR, and we decided to pounce on the new cars as soon as they became available,” Seward said.

“The hype around the category has been really strong, especially from junior category drivers looking to make their first step into touring car racing.

“It’s a very affordable class and really well priced in the current landscape. For our team, it was a no-brainer.

“Dylan O’Keefe has really been our biggest selling point. Before the start of this season, we wanted to be part of TCR, but it was a big risk too. Without a doubt, our punt has definitely paid off and it’s a credit to the team behind TCR Australia.

“The Alfas are a great car. They are well-engineered and really easy to work on and, for sure, we feel that we can be in a position to win more races and win a championship.

“The new cars land next week and if the right deals fall in place, we might enter one extra car at The Bend. We need to wait and see on that.”

The two new acquisitions will make it four Giulietta Veloces confirmed for next season, with Garry Rogers Motorsport’s Jordan Cox driven car the fourth in the field.

Tickets for the Shannons Nationals seventh round are now available here.

Fans unable to attend the round can watch via SBS or on the live stream on thenationals.com.au.

The final round will take place at The Bend Motorsport Park during the Shannons Nationals  on 15-17 November.
