After seven rounds and eight months, the 2019 Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia will come down to the final round as Dale Wood and Jordan Love look to secure the series title.

 

Only two points separate the Sonic teammates, with Love holding the slight advantage over Wood after claiming a clean sweep of wins in the past two rounds.

 

The two have been enjoying a healthy battle all year as Wood held the lead in the first half of the year, but with just three races left in what has been a entertaining season, Love remains relaxed about a career-defining weekend.

 

“I am feeling really good,” Love said.

 

“I guess I am just trying to treat it as another race weekend and continue what we have been doing since the crash in Darwin.

 

“It was a bit of wake up call and I think it helped me to a certain extent because I have been forced to push hard ever since, which is why I am in the fight now.

 

“The title race is in the back of my mind, but at the end of the day it is what it is and I guess I am just going to do the best I can and do what I have been doing all year. We have planned and prepared ourselves as much as we can.

 

“It’s hard to describe how I would feel if we won, because the plan for us when we joined in 2017 was to win the series and get to the shootout, so the pressure is on a little bit.”

 

Despite Love being focused on the title, the youngster has the international Porsche shootout in Portugal on his mind and winning this weekend would get him there.

 

Teammate Wood is also keen to recreate his early season form and put a chaotic previous two rounds behind him.

 

“You can’t reinvent anything new now and we are too deep into the year.” Wood explained.

 

“We have had a rough couple of rounds and things haven’t gone as well as the start of the season when we were flying. But we have worked hard on trying to find some things ahead of the round and identified some boxes to tick.

 

“It’s exciting because with Jordan and I now, we go out there with an equal opportunity, essentially starting from scratch.

 

“I guess it will just be a case of the best man wins.”

 

While all eyes will be watching the top two battle it out on the iconic Gold Coast circuit, there will be a lot going on down the field, starting off with the battle for third going on behind them.

 

David Wall is currently sitting in third on 837 points and is expected to end there come the final result, however Nick McBride is within reach and could pull off a sensational comeback.

 

In the TAG Heuer Pro-Am class, three drivers are in the running to take out the class with Adrian Flack just six points ahead of second placed Liam Talbot, while Roger Lago is a further 18 points behind.

 

The Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup’s season finale takes place as part of the Vodafone Gold Coast 600 on 25-27 October, with the one-make series starting off with two practice sessions and qualifying on Friday.

 

The first of three races will then run on Saturday before the season wraps up on Sunday with two races as the 2019 series winner will be crowned.
