Known as the Super3 Series in 2019, the series will return to its original title from 2020 as the Kumho Tyre Australian V8 Touring Car Series.
 
Commonly referred to as the unofficial third-tier to the Supercars ladder, the series allows for de-registered V8 Supercars up to, and including, the Holden Commodore VE II and Ford Falcon FG.
 
The series has also confirmed a strategic partnership with the Australian Racing Group (ARG), who this year have promoted the all new TCR Australia and S5000 categories alongside a growing portfolio of existing properties.
 
For Category Manager Liam Curkpatrick, it’s business as usual as the category seeks to lock away its 2020 calendar as early as next week.
 
“2020 will be a year of major change for the category but it’s one we’re looking forward to embracing,” Curkpatrick said.
 
“Our new relationship with ARG comes as they see the value the series and the cross-section of competitors and cars that it represents.”
 
Kumho Tyre Australia has also reaffirmed their commitment to the series as both title sponsor and control tyre supplier.
 
“We’re working hard to ensure our competitors have a strong broadcast package and opportunities to potentially progress their driving beyond the category should they have a successful season and wish to move onwards,” Curkpatrick said.
 
“The V8 Touring Cars brand is strong and we’ll continue to build on our more than a decade of history that started in 2008 and will evolve further in 2020.”
 
Serving as both a platform to nurture next-generation premier Australian racing talent, and a home for enthusiasts to run the much loved V8 machinery, the series will also soon announce a range of awards and prizes for competitors in the 2020 series.
 
The 2019 Super3 Series was claimed by up-and-coming rising star Broc Feeney.
