Queensland Expo back in 2020

Friday 24 January, 2020
The Queensland Motorsport Australia Expo returns for another instalment in February with Beenleigh Showgrounds in Brisbane once again hosting the popular event.

The Expo, which attracts a variety of car clubs from around Queensland, aims to give clubs a platform to promote themselves and attract new members, new officials and build the profile of motorsport in the state.

On top of the main attraction of static car displays, there are a number of extra activations throughout the day, including a remote control race car track and a Supercars kids’ corner, as well as many giveaways.

In 2020, for the first time in the Expo’s history, the Gold Coast Tweed Motorsport Club run a live motorkhana display and club spokesman John Jones was looking forward to the event and motorkhana.

“The main benefit of putting on a display at the expo is that it promotes the different classes of cars that we all have,” Jones said.

“It’s a static display allowing the everyday punter to see all types of cars from rally to hill climb to reasonably good circuit cars.

“While the display shows people what cars we have, this year’s motorkhana is going to show people what we do. It’d be great to have it one day as a driving in motorsport type of sessions, but at the moment we just want to build up young kids’ confidence when driving on the roads.

“We can help young drivers understand they can improve their driving skills and motorkhanas are the perfect place to do it.”

The Queensland Motorsport Australia Expo will take place on Sunday 16 February at Beenleigh Showgrounds in Brisbane from 9am to 2pm, with free entry for all.
