Super2 set for four
Monday 01 June, 2020
The Dunlop Super2 Series will aim to have another four rounds in 2020.
The Dunlop Super2 Series has released their revised provisional calendar for the 2020 season with four rounds to take place this year.
Running as a support category at four of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship’s rescheduled rounds in 2020, the revised calendar is reliant on the main championship fitting into each state’s COVID-19 restrictions action plans.
Starting off at the Truck Assist Winton in July, the series will then have a two month break before it returns as part of the OTR The Bend round in September.
The penultimate round of Supercars’ second tier will take place in October on one of the country’s biggest stages, the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, before wrapping up at the Penrite Oil Sandown in December.
While the series has released a provisional calendar and is reliant on Supercars passing guidelines set by each state, Supercars Chief Operating Officer Shane Howard was confident the schedule would be confirmed soon.
“The Dunlop Super2 Series is a very important member of the Supercars family and has been for 20 years,” Howard said.
“Further confirmation and information regarding the return of Dunlop Super2 will be made in the coming weeks.”
With one round having already run in 2020, Eggleston Motorsport’s Brodie Kostecki is on top of the standings after taking out top honours at the Superloop Adelaide 500, while Jayden Ojeda leads the rookie class.
