More than 30 drivers have been part of the Beverley Offroad Motorsports Association’s (BORMSA) return to motorsport, with the West Australian club hosting a successful khanacross over the weekend.

With the action spread across the two days in order to keep in line with Motorsport Australia’s Return to Race strategy, competitors underwent 11 speed tests on the club’s 120-acre property.

Despite all 33 competitors putting on a good show throughout the two day event, it was Nicholas Stan-Bishop who came away with the victory – his accumulated final time-score just eight seconds faster than the second placed Neil Lenihan.

Both WRX drivers were in an entertaining duel throughout the whole event, but it was Stan-Bishop with seven test wins, including a run of four-in-a-row, who claimed outright honours.

While Lenihan was the fastest in only the opening test, his consistency across the event earned him the well-deserved runner-up finish, ahead of Jarrod Sewell and Evan King who finished third and fourth respectively.

Barely anything separated Sewell and King at the end of the event, with Sewell only coming out on top by two-tenths of a second.

It was a tough fight for third place between the two drivers and while King won more outright tests, including the event’s final one where he was five seconds faster than Sewell, he fell just short of securing third.

Rounding out the top five ahead of the number one seed in Dale Faulkner was Ethan Anderson, while event organiser Neal Johnson finished seventh, and although he may not have come close to winning outright, he was still proud of the event the club put on.

“It was the perfect weekend,” Johnson said.

“We had 33 starters and only one failed to finish every test due to an electrical failure split, but that was the only downside to a fantastic event.

“The event ran really smoothly so a big thank you must be made to all competitors, officials and organisers for making it possible.

“Everyone was happy to abide by the social distancing procedures and other safety measures we had implemented because they were happy just to be doing motorsport again.

“We’re really looking forward to being able to continue with bigger and better events as the year continues.”
