Shannen Kiely has been appointed as Erebus Motorsport's new Managing Director.

Shannen Kiely has added another achievement to her impressive CV after being appointed Erebus Motorsport’s Managing Director.

On top of being appointed to the newly created position in running the day-to-day work of the Victorian based team, Kiely will continue in her role of General Manager of Communications for the team.

Having gained a wealth of experience in Supercars with communications stints at Walkinshaw Andretti Racing and Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport in her early 20s, Kiely started with the Victorian team in 2016 as PR & Media Manager and instantly made solid first impressions.

With both CEO Barry Ryan and team owner Betty Klimenko strongly supporting her elevation to the new position, Kiely was thrilled with the opportunity.

“It’s a huge vote of confidence from Betty and Barry and I want to thank them both for having faith in me to do the job,” Kiely said.
“I have grown with the team since we started in Melbourne and have been involved in many different facets of the business and it’s something I’ve taken great pride in.

“We have built a reputation and a brand we are very proud of and I look forward to what lies ahead.

“I still have a lot to learn, but we have a great supportive team, so I know I have the backing of everyone which will make the transition a lot easier.

“I didn’t think I would take on a role like this at 27, but I am so excited about the future of Erebus and all the opportunities and big plans ahead.’’

Alongside her role at Erebus in 2019, Kiely was also a key part of the FIA Girls on Track – Dare to be Different initiative - helping run the program during each school's visit to the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship team's headquarters in Dandenong South.

As one of Kiely’s biggest fans, Klimenko was proud of what the 27-year-old has achieved during her time with the team.

“Shannen has shown over the years that she can handle the job,” Klimenko added.

“She’s been a key member in our team and demonstrated leadership and capabilities across multiple facets of the business.

“Shannen has handled a lot of the commercial aspects of the business on her own for many years. She helped put in place the programs for many aspects of Erebus, so she has earned the position on her own merits, her work ethic and her commitment to the team.”
