NSW events to resume this weekend
Thursday 24 September, 2020
Motorsport Australia will resume permitting motorsport events in New South Wales from this weekend, following the lifting of inter-regional restrictions by the NSW government.
NSW Health has confirmed the restrictions, which were aimed at preventing movement between regions for those attending sporting events, will no longer apply as of 26 September.
The original six week period was due to finish on 30 September, however it was announced today that the change had been moved forward to this weekend.
As such, Motorsport Australia will now permit all motorsport events in the state from 26 September, subject to each event meeting the requirements set out in the Return To Race strategy.
Under NSW specific guidelines, events will still be limited to less than 500 people - including participants, officials and spectators - and social distancing must be maintained. Car-pooling and other similar activities which do not allow for those from different households to socially distance is still prohibited.
More information about the Return To Race strategy, can be found at Motorsport Australia’s dedicated COVID-19 Resource Centre.
