Friday 29 January, 2021
The FIA Motorsport Games has confirmed 18 disciplines to run in 2021.
After a successful inaugural running in 2019, the FIA Motorsport Games will return in October with an expanded programme of 18 disciplines to make up the large scale event.
Scheduled to take place at the Circuit Paul Ricard and the surrounding region in Marseille, the event will once again see racers from around the world compete for Gold medals in an Olympic Games style format.
Both disciplines will return in the 2021 edition of the Games, along with the other four original categories, while a host of new exciting disciplines will be added on, including rally, which will be a major part of the event with four competitions to be staged on the tarmac roads of Sainte-Baume.
With LMP3, a revamped karting section and more grassroots motorsport disciplines like autocross part of the new look Motorsport Games, President of the FIA Drivers’ Commission Tom Kristensen was excited for what the event could offer competitors.
“I am glad to see this amazing event back on track. The FIA Motorsport Games is an exceptional opportunity for the entire motor sport family to come together, from grassroots level to the elite, with women and men from a host of regions and countries all sharing this passion we have for the sport,” Kristensen said.
“It is also a chance to give motor sport in your country fresh impetus after this difficult period. As drivers, we don't get many opportunities to race on behalf of our country.”
The 2021 FIA Motorsport Games will take place at Circuit Paul Ricard in France on 29-31 October.
Motorsport Australia will continue to monitor the ongoing border situation before confirming its participation in this event in 2021. Any competitors interested in taking part can email [email protected]
