Young girls interested in finding out about how they can get involved in motorsport are being given an exciting opportunity to be part of the FIA Girls On Track program at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Registrations for the free Girls On Track event are now open to the general public with the program to take place alongside the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships at Sydney Motorsport Park next weekend.
Scheduled to run on Saturday 1 May, the event will see participants complete a number of fun and engaging activities, introducing them to different avenues of motorsport, including engineering, driving and even media.
Under the guidance of our experienced Ambassadors, the program gives school girls aged 8-18 a unique insight into the world of motorsport.
Participants will also receive two free tickets to the third round of the 2021 Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships for their parents or guardians, where nine national categories will do battle over the course of the weekend, including the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series and the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia.
This will allow participants to get a feel for a national race meeting and see teams in action throughout the paddock.
The FIA Girls on Track initiative is a global, non-for-profit initiative aimed at inspiring the next generation to consider a career in the sport, which is often considered as male-dominated.
Next weekend’s event at Sydney will be the second event of the year after the first one took place last month as part of the Shannons International Women's Day Festival in Broadford, which celebrated International Women’s Day.
The event is free for all participants, with the only requirement being the girls needing to bring their own lunches and snacks.
The second FIA Girls On Track event for the year takes place at Sydney Motorsport Park on Saturday, 1 May.
