Finke raises the stakes for 2021 and beyond

Wednesday 02 June, 2021
There will be a bigger prize pool on offer for the 2021 Tatts Finke Desert Race.
Crews in this year’s Tatts Finke Desert Race will be vying for its biggest prize pool ever after the iconic off road event announced its partners for 2021.

Around 750 crews from around the country, 175 of which will be running in four-wheeled vehicles, will contest the Northern Territory’s biggest annual sporting event later this month, which has been made possible by the many sponsors year after year.

Headlining this year’s sponsors is The Lott by Tatts, which will act as the naming right partner for the 22nd consecutive year, while a number of new companies are joining for 2021 and beyond.

For the first time in more than a decade, the Tatts Finke Desert Race will have a major sponsor for Prologue with Method Wheels jumping on board. The Custom Wheel House owned company will offer up to $7,500 in prize money for the Method Race Wheels Prologue winners.

As part of the deal, the outright Prologue winner will receive $5000 and the highest placed UTV crew will win $2500.

Signing on with the event for three-years, Custom Wheel House Chief Marketing Officer Brian Godfrey was thrilled to partner up with Finke.

“The soul of Method Race Wheels is in off-road desert racing. It is our intention to support off-road desert racers everywhere they race,” Godfrey said.

“We are proud to be working with the Finke organisers and its racers, along with our exclusive Australian Distributor, Race Wheels Australia, for this year’s and future Finke Desert Races.”

Sportsnet Holidays has also signed on for the next three years, opening up Tatts Finke Desert Race holiday package opportunities to competitors, their support crews and spectators.

On top of the new sponsors, Red Bull and Lasserters will continue their involvement at the event with the popular energy drink to now support the traditional Finke Street Party and Night Markets in Todd Mall on the Thursday night, while Lassaters will host the new official State of Origin screening on the eve of the event.

With the event in a healthy position ahead of the 2021 edition, Finke Desert Race Committee President Antony Yoffa was pleased with the sponsorship line up.

“Without these valued partners, our event wouldn’t be possible. The Committee thanks Tatts for once again being our loyal naming rights partner and we welcome Method Wheels, Sportsnet and Red Bull on board as partners of this iconic event,” Yoffa said.

The Tatts Finke Desert Race is the second round of the BFGoodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship and sees crews take on a challenging journey from Alice Springs to the small Aputula (Finke) community and back again.

The 2021 Tatts Finke Desert Race takes place in Alice Springs and Finke on 11-14 June.
