The 2021 Motorsport Australia NSW Off Road Championship season has been cancelled due to a lack of rounds being able to run this year.

In a highly interrupted season, just two rounds of the season have been able to go ahead so far with Glenn Spizzo and navigator Doug Cupitt producing unlikely victories in both the Scotts Hydraulics Dondingalong Off Road Challenge and the Jim Anderson Kempsey 300.

With four rounds still remaining in the 2021 season, New South Wales’ extended lockdown and the uncertainty surrounding when the state will open up again were the main reasons behind the decision.

The news of the cancellation was announced via a statement sent out to all championship stakeholders and competitors by the New South Wales Off Road State Panel, outlining the difficulties of this year.

“It is with much regret that the NSW Off Road State Panel wish to advise all NSW Off Road State Championship Competitors that the 2021 NSW State Championship has been cancelled due to insufficient rounds being completed,” the statement read.

“The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions placed on the majority of NSW, unfortunately these unprecedented times has resulted in several events having to be cancelled.

“The NSW Off Road Panel moving in a forward direction are exploring ways on making the 2022 State Championship a more prestige Championship for all classes.

“NSWORP is reaching out to all NSW Competitors requesting for their thoughts on ways they feel the Championship could be improved from a competitor’s perspective.”
