RIP Margaret Hardy.
Motorsport Australia is saddened to learn of the passing of long time motorsport administrator, Margaret Hardy.

Having been involved in the sport since the 1970s, Margaret was best known for her work with Formula Ford in Australia, where she was rewarded with Formula Ford Association life membership.

Margaret’s journey in motorsport started in 1977 where she joined the Light Car Club of Australia, before joining the national Formula Ford series not long after.

It was here where Margaret became an instrumental figure to the sport as she spent more than two decades as an administrator at both Sandown and Winton.

During that time, as first Assistant Administrator and then eventually Administrator, she oversaw the most successful period of the category in Australia which had seen a number of famous names come through the ranks.

From administrative tasks such as record maintenance and working with sponsors to running the Formula Ford Driver to Europe Series and the Australian Formula Ford Championship, Margaret was a highly influential figure.

She was also imperative to the development of many graduates who went on to forge successful careers both in Australia and abroad, including Mark Webber, Russell Ingall, Craig Lowndes, Will Davison and Anton De Pasquale.

In 2009, she retired from her post as administrator for the Formula Ford Association but continued managing the Australian Formula Ford Championship for a few years after.

Motorsport Australia offers its condolences to Margaret’s family, friends and colleagues.
