After a successful inaugural campaign in 2020, the Repco Supercars Championship’s popular All Stars Eseries returns for season two.
Running on the popular gaming platform iRacing every Wednesday night for the next six weeks, many of the Supercars’ regular stars will feature across the events, as well as being joined by different international wild card entries for each round.
This year, it won’t just be Supercars’ main gamers contesting the six-round series, with a number of Super2 regulars and other Australian high profile drivers locked in to compete.
During the 2021 season, the drivers will race at five famous US based oval circuits including Charlotte, Pocono, Daytona, Michigan and Bristol, as well as contest an endurance round at the iconic Mount Panorama in Bathurst.
All six rounds will be run as a 90-minute broadcast and will include one qualifying session and one race. Unlike last year, the Supercars series won't be the only one part of the broadcast, with gamers from the Supercars Pro Series to also sharing the spotlight in separate races and at different circuits.
For the Mount Panorama meeting, all drivers will combine with the All Stars competitors to team up with the Pro Series drivers in what will be an epic showdown.
The Supercars drivers to headline the series’ opening round include Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Chaz Mostert, Tickford Racing’s Cam Waters, Dick Johnson Racing’s Anton DePasquale, Brad Jones Racing’s Todd Hazelwood, Team 18’s Scott Pye and Kelly Grove Racing's Andre Heimgartner.
Other names include last year’s Super2 champion Thomas Randle, TCR Australia’s Tony D’Alberto, former Supercars driver Richie Stanaway, S5000 star James Golding, Sam Brabham, Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series’ Justin Ruggier and Jayden Ojeda, who leads the Super2 charge.
The All Stars will also welcome Australian international and 2020 FIA Formula 3 champion Oscar Piastri as the wildcard entry for the opening round.
Piastri has enjoyed a rapid rise up the ranks over the past 18 months, having signed on as a Alpine F1 Academy driver and currently leads the FIA Formula 2 Championship.
While he hasn’t run in the Supercars All Stars Eseries before, Piastri is no stranger to virtual racing having won multiple events last year.
“I’m definitely looking forward to it, I watched it at home on TV before I flew back to Europe last year, so I’m looking forward to providing entertainment for everyone back home in lockdown,” Piastri said.
“I’ve done a little bit of oval racing; I’ve done some practice at Charlotte which is the track we are racing at so it should be fun. I’ve got a little bit of experience, but I’ll be putting some practice in.
“I’m using my sim from home in Oxford so hopefully my ping isn’t too bad and I’m not virtually hitting people from 10 metres away, but I think as we are on oval circuits with the same setups, we will be evenly matched.
“When I was at home in Australia last year and in lockdown, I did some races against Shane van Gisbergen and Brodie Kostecki online, so I’m looking forward to racing them again.”
The live 90-minute television coverage of first Cash Converters Supercars Eseries will take place from 7:30pm AEST on Wednesday 25 August.
All rounds will be broadcast on Fox Sports, Kayo, 7Plus, Sky NZ, Facebook, YouTube and Twitch.
