Western Australia’s Motorsport Australia State Speed Series is set for a springtime return this weekend, with more than 50 competitors confirmed for a double round at Collie Motorplex.
While the title race looks almost over with series leader John Webb enjoying a comfortable buffer of 58 points, there is still plenty to look forward to when the series meets for the weekend's supersprints.
Outside of the usual names like Webb, Ray Ferrari, Frank Ferrari and Mark Hallam all attending, there are a couple of stars who will be making their return to the series after an extended break.
Marcel Every headlines that list, with the 2019 series winner to mark his first event since round five by debuting his new Formula 1000.
Having sold the West that helped him to a dominant series victory in 2019, Every has been working hard behind the scenes to develop the new car and get it ready for a charge next year.

Another big name to return for his first event for the season is a proven event winner and one who will be looking to continue his recent run of good form - Cosi Sorgiovanni.
With another double round of big numbers and names confirmed for the weekend, series organiser Phil Morley was looking forward to what will be a big weekend.
“Collie is always a fantastic place to go, so it should be a great couple of days and we’re really looking forward to it – especially with the weather expected to be nice,” Morley said.
“We’re actually stoked with the amount of numbers that we have too. Considering it’s Father’s Day, Collie being a bit out of the way and that our average numbers were around 35 last year, we couldn’t be happier.
“It’s great to have some good cars coming back too, so it should make the battles for the outright win pretty exciting.
“Of course John is in the box seat for the title. Something has to go completely wrong for him to lose and because he is driving a standard Radical, which barely breaks down, I expect him to almost secure the title this weekend.
“You obviously can’t rule out the likes of Marcel and Cosi though for a round win. Marcel obviously can’t score outright points due to our regulations surrounding car entries, but he will be very strong next year and I suspect he is using this year's remaining rounds to prepare.”
On Saturday, competitors will be split into groups based on their speed and will get three laps of the long course per session. Allowing them one out lap, one flying lap and a cool down lap.
The following day will see the competition moved to the short course where the drivers will get five laps per session, three of which will be flying laps.
Spectators have been granted free entry into both rounds, with the action to get underway from early morning on both days.
