Jack Monkhouse will make his official tarmac rally debut later this month.
Experienced RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship (ARC) competitor Jack Monkhouse will make his tarmac rally debut this month after confirming his place in the 2021 Shannons Adelaide Rally.

Since first competing all the way back in the 1990s, the South Australian has made a name for himself in the rally community through his flamboyant style of driving and eclectic mix of classic cars.

Some of the cars Monkhouse has run include a Galant VR4, Evo 7, two Nissan Silvias and a Datsun 180B with the latter to be steered by the New South Wales based driver later this month.

Having owned the car for almost 20 years, Monkhouse drastically rebuilt it in the past few years, turning it into a top-spec rally car, and using it as his weapon of choice since 2017.

While Monkhouse’s inclusion into the popular tarmac rally may surprise some, he was more than excited to get an opportunity to run in it after the SA/NSW borders recently opened.

“I’m super excited to be competing in my first ever full tarmac rally,” Monkhouse said.

“Even better that it’s in my old backyard.

“I’ve wanted to do this event back before I even had a licence, riding the BMX down the end of my parents’ street to watch the cars transport past after the epic Gorge Rd stage.”

Monkhouse will contest the event alongside experienced local navigator Chloe Bojko and will don the number 91, in honour of his long-time friend, Adrian ‘Mozza’ Morrisby.

He joins a growing list of high profile entries with more than 400 cars already committed to the event, which will see them tackle 230 competitive kilometres across 34 stages.

Some of the big names contesting the event with plenty of gravel and tarmac experience include John O’Dowd, Max McRae, Eddie Maguire, Ben Calder and Angus Kennard, Tony Quinn, Peter Rullo and Ross Dunkerton.
