Motorsport Australia has opened Expressions of Interests (EOI) to identify candidates interested in becoming committee members of the newly formed Tarmac Rally Working Group Committee (TRWG).
Being created in response to the 2021 Targa Tasmania Investigatory Tribunal Report and Findings, the TRWG’s main responsibility will be to assist in the implementation of the report’s recommendations 2022 onwards.
Working alongside Motorsport Australia, the TRWG will draft and implement regulatory and or procedural changes arising from the report, as well as considering the general safety and conduct of Tarmac Rallying in Australia.
The committee will be made of a minimum of six members, including a Chairperson, a highly experienced tarmac rally competitor, a medical delegate, the Motorsport Australia Director of Motorsport or a chosen delegate, a technical delegate and an independent person.
Already appointed in the committee is Motorsport Australia’s Director of Motorsport and Commercial Michael Smith, Motorsport Australia’s Division Manager of Technical Scott McGrath as technical delegate and the highly experienced WA based Dr Rik Hagen as the medical delegate.
The remaining roles Motorsport Australia is now seeking to fill are the Chairperson, a tarmac rally competitor and an independent member.
Interested candidates are invited to register a formal EOI with Motorsport Australia by 5pm AEDT on Monday 6 December, 2021.

The Tarmac Rally Working Group Committee will meet four times a year on a volunteer basis and will provide Australia Rally Commission a report once a year.
