Early bird entries for the 2022 TARGA Great Barrier Reef are now being accepted.

In what will be a major boost for the North Queensland event, all state borders are expected to re-open in 2022, meaning the fifth anniversary of TARGA Great Barrier Reef will welcome the return southern state-based competitors.

With all restrictions for Queensland likely to be lifted, the two Super Stages planned for Cairns and Innisfail will most certainly come to life – with the latter to add a whole new dimension to the region, after a successful first visit in this year’s event.

The easing of border restrictions has left event organisers confident the 2022 event will be a sell-out field and 2021 winners Luke Anear and Andy Sarandis are expected to lead the way once again.

After what was another successful outing for the Innisfail region and event as a whole, Cassowary Coast Regional Mayor, Mark Nolan expressed his excitement for what next year’s event would do for the state.

“The community turned out in droves to support the 2021 TARGA event in our region with cafes and local businesses reaping the rewards of a bumper Father’s Day event,” Nolan said.

“TARGA is an event not to be missed and we are proud to welcome the event back to the Cassowary Coast and TARGA Town for an even bigger and better event in 2022.”

Competitors wanting to take advantage of the TARGA Great Barrier Reef discounted entry special will have until 25 February 2022 or will have to pay normal entry fees to attend the popular event by 5 August 2022.
