Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation applications, renewals and upgrades for the 2022 motorsport season are now open. 
  
Following two years of media accreditation periods concluding at the end of March due to COVID-19, this year’s accreditations will remain valid until Saturday, 31 December and will come into effect on Friday, 1 April. 
 
The change comes as a result of Motorsport Australia looking to revert media accreditation back to a calendar year as opposed to over two separate years – meaning there will also be a reduction in cost this year due to the shortened period. 
 
For any new applicants looking to attend events before the end of March, they are advised to contact Motorsport Australia via [email protected] in order to be provided with temporary credentials as soon as possible.
 
Existing accreditation holders may continue to use their 2021 vests and ID cards until their credentials expire on 31 March.

All individuals interested in 2022 Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation have until 5pm on Tuesday, 8 March AEDT to submit their application in order to receive their credentials prior to the start of April. 
  
Media who miss this deadline are not guaranteed to receive their credentials before Friday, 1 April and therefore may not be granted access to events as accredited media until their credentials can be sent. 
  
As of 2022, renewing media will no longer have the option to re-apply for a specific vest number, with new numbers to be allocated each year.

There are several benefits to having Motorsport Australia Media Accreditation, including: 
  
- You receive personal accident insurance through Motorsport Australia which provides for a certain amount of compensation in the event that you are injured 
- Having Media Accreditation makes a clear statement to event organisers about the quality of your portfolio, that you are bound by our Media Policy and that you are endorsed by Motorsport Australia 
- Those without Media Accreditation may not be able to access areas beyond those available to general spectators
