The 500 Car Club of Tasmania held the third round of its Khanacross Summer Series over the weekend, with Nathan Roddam claiming first position. 

Twenty-five entrants competed in the Khanacross at Baskerville Raceway on Sunday, with each driver getting a total of four runs that accumulated to a total time. 

The event also held a non-competitive junior training session leading up to Sunday’s main multi-club Khanacross.

In what proved to be an entertaining competition, Roddam edged out Craig Wright in his Hyundai Excel, clocking in a total time of 10:19 across his four runs including his best time of just under two and half minutes which came in the final run. 

Wright steered his Mitsubishi Lancer to second place just 21 seconds behind Roddam, while third position was tied between Nicholas Creese and Matthew Taylor whose total times were 16 seconds off Wright.

Following on from his victory, Roddam said the conditions at Baskerville Raceway made it for a great day. 

“I had an absolute blast out there,” Roddam said. 

“It was a very entertaining and fun day. I get just as much enjoyment sitting besides my son who is old enough to compete now and he finished 17 overall, so that was pretty special in itself. 

“It was a really good day, it was really warm too and got up to around 31 degrees, so that’s a massive credit to the club for keeping the dust level down with the new water tank set up that they have. 

“The conditions certainly helped with all my runs, I like to think I nailed them all which was pleasing. The grip level by the time I got to run was pretty sensational and was beneficial to me, so I got to have a bit of fun along the way. 

“I’m now really looking forward to the fourth round already which is going to be another awesome day, I always get excited for these events.”
