The BMW Drivers Club of Melbourne will be at Sandown this weekend for its annual German Auto Show.
One of the biggest events on the BMW Drivers Club of Melbourne events calendar is taking place this weekend with the annual German Auto Show.
Bringing together the best German vehicles from around the state, more than 350 vehicles spread across a range of well-known and classic manufactures will be on display during the event.
In addition to the feats of German engineering such as BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen, there will be some more of the quirky and now defunct brands included, further illustrating the eclectic range the show will feature.
Held at Sandown International Raceway on Sunday, there will be plenty of entertainment throughout the day.
Although they won’t be racing, each entry will be fighting for some form of prize during the day with different competition including the people's choice, President’s choice and best of each Marque.
While the cars will be the main event, there will also be other activations attendees can enjoy such as a trade stands, food vendors and an opportunity to meet Australian motorsport legend John Bowe, who will also be in attendance and as the official special guest.
Club Vice President Jo Mawson was excited for the weekend.
“The German Auto Show is one of, if not the biggest car display for all German vehicles and we really look forward to this event every year,” Mawson said.
“We are expecting over 350 cars on the day, and I am sure there will be plenty that will impress all kinds of motorsport fans.
“The event will also be important for raising funds for a good cause as we are donating money to our charity partner, Beyond Blue, who do a fabulous job and have been very busy with the impact on the community since COVID hit our country.
“We will have many club sponsors and supporters there such as Bell Motorsport, Shannons Insurance, Traction Tyres/Yokohama, Jay Leno, Southern BM, Maluku Vehicle Storage, All Commercial All Residential, German Auto Haus, Sonax, Aden Detailing and E30 racing.
“Obviously a big thank you to all those companies who support us, as well as members, officials and competitors who help our club put this event on.
“It is a great setting with entertainment for the whole family, a lot of interesting vehicles to look at and fascinating owners who have plenty to share about their cars.”
Anyone planning on attending the German Auto Show must be double vaccinated and will be required to show proof of their certificate on arrival.
