Popular Adelaide Motorsport Festival to return
Tuesday 22 March, 2022
The Adelaide Motorsprot Festival will return in 2022.
South Australian motorsport has been handed a major boost in 2022 with the return of the highly popular Adelaide Motorsport Festival this November.
For the first time since 2018, the festival will take place in and around the streets of Adelaide, including parts of the original track where the Australian Grand Prix ran between 1985-1995.
Throughout the festival, attendees will be treated to a spectacle of motorsport action with the focus of the event to be on the Formula 1 cars from the Adelaide era.
The mighty roar of the historic Formula 1 cars won’t be the only appeal for the weekend, with a complement of other historic and modern race categories to appease fans of every kind, as well as the Shannons Adelaide Rally – an event that welcomes more than 100 crews from around the country.
In addition to the impressive list of categories, there will also be a multiple demonstrations and parades, the most notable being the return of the Peak Hour of Power – a parade of rare and exotic vehicles that ends at Gouger Street Party.
The Friday night street party won’t be the only form of entertaining action across the weekend with Djs, more on-track action and a gathering of modified vehicles and hot rods to feature in the Saturday night’s Sundown Throwdown, while top live music acts will close out the event on Sunday night.
Event Director Tim Possingham was pleased to be able to bring the popular festival of motorsport back to Adelaide after a four-year break.
“We’re delighted to have the chance to bring the Adelaide Motorsport Festival back for South Australians,” Possingham said.
“Adelaide has an unmatched pedigree in motorsport and we’re excited about celebrating that once again in the heart of the city.
“AMF was a fast-growing event that had gathered international attention and a strong local following and we’ll be building on that in the coming years, starting this November.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from the community and we’re already hard at work to bring them something special.”
