Michelin backing the next generation

Thursday 14 April, 2022
Michelin is backing the next generation with continued support of the FIA Girls on Track & Ricciardo’s Racers.
Michelin will remain as a valued support of the Ricciardo’s Racers and Australian FIA Girls on Track program, including through an ongoing mentoring initiative.

The ‘Michelin Mentor’ program will see Girls On Track Ambassadors and Champions partner with participants to provide support, guidance and advice to help young girls continue their motorsport journey.

Michelin will also remain a key part of each Girls On Track event, providing race suits and support for all program participants as they begin their motorsport journeys.

For Ricciardo’s Racers, Michelin will provide tyres for the vehicles used by participants as a loyal partner of the junior development program.

Motorsport Australia CEO Eugene Arocca thanked Michelin for its ongoing support.

“The FIA Girls on Track and Ricciardo’s Racers programs are going from strength-to-strength, and thanks to the continued support from Michelin, we can work on expanding this program’s reach across Australia,” Arocca said.

“The ability for us to offer a special mentor program as part of the FIA Girls on Track program is a terrific addition to what is a very popular and important development tool.

“We’re also grateful for Michelin’s support of Ricciardo’s Racers, as we give 12 to 17-year-olds their first motorsport experience, along with some valuable driving advice. It will also be reassuring to know those provided vehicles and the program participants will be hitting the track with Michelin tyres, which are certainly a leading product in the market.”

Ebony Doherty, PR & Brand Partnerships Manager for Australia said it was proud to be helping the next generation get involved in motorsport.

“Michelin Australia are proud to be supporting the FIA Girls on Track and Ricciardo’s Racers in 2022, both of which inspire our younger generation to think outside the box when it comes motorsport and the automotive industry; showcasing the diverse range of on-track and off-track roles our community has to offer,” Ebony said.

“For the FIA Girls on Track program, the Michelin Mentor initiative is a fantastic platform for young girls looking to learn from women in the industry who are setting such a high bar. Not only encouraging them to get involved, but importantly, helping to build trust and confidence in themselves that they can do anything.”

“We’re excited about what lies ahead for both of these programs and thank Motorsport Australia for the opportunity to be a proud partner of these popular events.”

About FIA Girls on Track:
FIA Girls on Track is a global, not-for-profit initiative - initially launched by former Formula 1 development driver Susie Wolff as 'Dare To Be Different'. In Australia the program is backed by Motorsport Australia. We offer school girls aged 8-18 a unique opportunity to participate in our free Girls on Track events.

The goal of the program is to grow interest in STEM subjects and industries amongst school girls with the aim of increasing female participation in these sectors, using motorsport as a tool to expose them to the incredible opportunities and career paths.

About Ricciardo’s Racers:
Ricciardo’s Racers is designed for children aged 12 to 17, learning the basics of motorsport and building their skills through fun exercises in provided cars.

The exercises are designed for small groups to ensure that every child gets a chance to learn new skills from our expert instructors in a safe environment. After they have mastered the basics of car control, they will be ready to progress to participate in club level events.

Ricciardo’s Racers Junior Drive Days are set up to cater to all skill levels, with individual instruction tailored to a participant's driving experience
