Applications for the WA Women’s Officiating Development Program are still being accepted this week, with the innovative program designed to provide more opportunities for club officials.
Supported by the WA Government, the program will help female club officials in the country’s west to progress from club level officiating into the running of state level and higher events.

Lauren Cornes, who will help support the delivery of the program, said it was a terrific opportunity for budding officials to grow their skills and take their officiating to the next level.
“A program like this gives you a network of people who can see how capable you are and encourage you to take the opportunities with confidence,” Cornes said.
Cornes, alongside WA locals Danielle Meyn and Wendy Walker who have both been involved at the sport in a high level for some time, will support participants involved in the program.
“I feel truly honoured to be involved in this program, especially when I discovered who my fellow panellists were,” Cornes added.
“Personally, I have had the privilege of watching both Wendy and Dani in full motorsport mode often and each time I learn something. So, I’m excited to be teaming up with them for this program and looking forward to hearing from the participants about what they want to achieve.”
Interested participants have until Thursday 7 July to submit their application and all successful applicants will be informed by 15 July.
The program will then begin with a Zoom meeting on 19 July, which will be hosted by Supercars content contributor Charlie Bullis and feature Cornes, Meyn and Walker.
Following on from the Zoom, mentees will then have their initial one-on-one mentor meetings and will create a plan of events they will participate in where they will develop their officiating skills and increase their knowledge.
Once the program has concluded, it is hoped that the participants will have increased their networking and learning opportunities and gained a larger skillset to help them fulfil a senior officiating role at state level events or upgrade their licence to Silver/Gold/Specialist status.
