Leyburn Sprints goes online

Wednesday 13 July, 2022
Punters can now book tickets to the Historic Leyburn Sprints online.
The annual Historic Leyburn Sprints has entered a new era in 2022 with fans able to purchase tickets to the popular event online for the first time ever.

Taking place in August on the Southern Darling Downs, more than 15,000 visitors are expected to visit the rural village across the weekend and watch more than 200 classic cars charging around the one-kilometre street course.

With the community-run sprint, which celebrates the town hosting the Australian Grand Prix in 1949, having grown substantially in the past few years, event organisers switched to the new system to start accommodating the increase in demand.

“The new website carries over all key features from the past, including live results and photo archives, and will add new features as we continue to bed down and refine its content,” Sprints committee President Tricia Chant said.

“Souvenir hunters, especially those unable to attend the Sprints, will find a great new range of 2022 merchandise and some unusual items such as a DVD of the 1949 Leyburn Australian Grand Prix and a reprint of the original program.”

Click here to view the new website and to purchase tickets.

Tickets for the event begin from $25 per day and $35 for a weekend pass with hardcopy or digital versions of tickets permitted for fans.

In addition to the main event that will see some of the best hill climbers in Queensland do battle, there will be plenty of other activations available for attendees.

From 100 cars and 30 vintage caravans in the Shannons Show ‘n’ Shine competition, to market stalls, trade and merchandise stands, live music and hospitality options, the festival-like weekend will keep all ages entertained.

The Historic Leyburn Sprints takes place in Leyburn on 20-21 August.
