George Russell has secured his first ever Formula 1 Race win after taking out the Brazilian Grand Prix, while Daniel Ricciardo had a day to forget.

In what was a dramatic race at the famous Interlagos circuit, Russell produced a brilliant performance to claim a well-deserved victory over teammate Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, having essentially led from start to finish.

The Brit’s first career victory came after he claimed top spot in Saturday's Sprint race thanks to strong pace and good strategy from Mercedes.

As for Ricciardo, his race only lasted half a lap after the West Australian made contact with Friday’s polesitter Kevin Magnussen on turn 9 of the opening lap.

With the field bunched together, Ricciardo attempted to pass Magnussen but instead, made contact with him from behind, spinning the Haas around before the pair ultimately came together as a result of the Dane losing control. Ricciardo was also handed a three-place grid penalty for the next race for his part in the clash.

The incident saw both drivers out and the safety car brought out.

It was a disappointing end to Ricciardo’s second last race for McLaren as he was in the hunt for points in Sao Paulo having started 11th.

In the lead up to the race, Ricciardo had enjoyed a successful run in Saturday’s Sprint Race, where he made up three positions having qualified in P14 on Friday.

While Leclerc would go on a solid recovery run to finish fourth ahead of Fernando Alonso, Norris failed to finish the race as his car came to halt with just 20 laps to go due to engine issues– making it a horror double DNF for McLaren.

Verstappen also made it a decent recovery, finishing sixth ahead of Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez, while Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas and Lance Stroll rounded out the top 10.

Just one round remains in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to wrap up the season this weekend.
