The Tatts Finke Desert Race is once again on the lookout for Spectator Safety Marshals to serve as the front-line for public safety this year.

The event is the premier fixture on the Polaris Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship calendar and will see hundreds of crews competing over three days.

With hundreds of bikes also entered, the off-road event is a bucket-list item for any off-road competitor, as well as attracting spectators from all around the country.

The event’s 200-kilometre course runs from Alice Springs to the rural town of Finke and requires Spectator Safety Marshals for up and down the course.

Introduced ahead of the last year’s event, the Spectator Safety Marshal plays an important role in protecting both spectators and competitors by ensuring adherence to the recommended spectating distance and providing safety information to the public in a courteous manner.

The spectator marshals will be located trackside at high-density spectator areas and will also be responsible for reporting any incidents to event headquarters.

Fans planning to attend the race who are interested in becoming a Spectator Safety Marshal can register here.

Taking place over the King’s Birthday long weekend, the event kicks off with the popular Street Party on the Thursday night and Scrutineering on Friday night, before the Method Race Wheels Prologue runs on Saturday.

The race then runs on the Sunday as competitors head to Finke before returning to Alice Springs on the Monday.

The Tatts Finke Desert Race will take place in Alice Springs from 8 – 12 June, 2023.

Motorsport Australia and the Tatts Finke Desert Race recommend all attending spectators adhere to the following rules at the event.
• Always stand back from the track
• In the absence of fencing, stand at least 20m back from the track, when spectating
• No campsites, vehicles or temporary structures within 30 metres of the track at all times
• Obey all directions of Spectator Safety Marshals, signage and bunting
• Do not fly drones at any time
• Know where your kids are at all times
• Do not take pets, recreational vehicles including UTVs, quads or motorbikes
