Rockhampton ready for Rockynats trilogy

The Rockynats is back this weekend.

The popular Rockynats returns this weekend with its third instalment and this year’s event is highly anticipated to be bigger and better than ever before.

Taking place in the heart of Rockhampton, the three-day event will welcome the return of many activations that have contributed to its growing stature over the past two years.

For fans keen on high-octane action, the street drag, burnout and drift competitions will certainly help scratch that itch as a collection of powerful and slick vehicles take centre stage in town once again, while Show ‘n’ Shines, a 60-car 4×4 Zone and Australia’s largest street parade of 1500 cars will accommodate to fans of all ages.

With the previous two events being a massive hit for the Central Queensland based town and its residents, Mayor Tony Williams was expecting a similar turnout for the 2023 edition.

“I am excited to see how well-attended the 2023 Rockynats will be,’ Mayor Williams said.

“Businesses are preparing, hotel ‘no-vacancy’ signs are going up all over the city, and there is a growing excitement throughout the region.”

Advance Rockhampton Executive Manager Greg Bowden echoed Mayor Williams’ thoughts and was keen to see Rockynats 03 in full flight again.

“Rockhampton is quickly becoming a hub for high-quality events in central Queensland. Rockynats alone attracts 15,000 visitors and injects over $5 million into the region’s economy,” Bowden added.

“Rockynats is for much more than just car lovers. Even if you can’t change a tyre or tell the difference between a Mustang or a Mazda, you’ll love the Rockynats off-track entertainment.”

The event features a jam-packed program for car enthusiasts across the three days, as well as boasting a hugely stacked off-track entertainment bill.

All weekend there will be with food stalls and musical acts, while each day will see interactive activations such as the fashionable RockabillyNats competition, the crowd-favourite Mulletfest, tattoo competitions, FMX Kaos and Hot Wheels stunt shows at the Showground and live pro-wrestling matches.

An outdoor movie on Friday night, a live concert from rock band Dragon on Saturday night and firework displays on both Saturday and Sunday are some of the other activities taking place throughout the weekend.

Limited tickets for the event are still on sale with discounted tickets still available up until Friday night, while Gold level tickets, three-day passes, family, concession, and youth tickets are also on offer.
