Erebus Motorsport’s strong start to the Repco Supercars Championship season continued on the final day of the Ned Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint as both Will Brown and Brodie Kostecki picked up two podiums each.

Following on from Brown’s solid victory yesterday, the Queenslander left the day with a third place finish in the first race before dominating the final race of the round to win by four seconds.

His teammate Kostecki was just as impressive despite not getting a win, with the West Australian netting both of the day’s ARMOR ALL Pole Positions, before picking up a runner-up and third place finish.

The only driver who was on the same level as the two Erebus stars was Triple Eight Racing’s Broc Feeney, who lived up to his growing nickname ‘Mr Sunday’ by winning race two and finishing second in race three.

Feeney was the star of Sunday’s first race, as a strong start put him in contention and a perfectly executed overcut on Brown helped him get the lead at the midway point of the race.

From that point on, Feeney never looked like losing his lead as the Queenslander produced a stellar drive to pick up his third win for the season and his third win on a Sunday.

Behind him, Kostecki was made to work for his second place, having lost the lead to Brown after just a few laps, but the championship leader was able to regain a spot from his teammate to consolidate some extra championship points.

Helping Kostecki’s championship push was the surprising retirement of title rival Shane van Gisbergen after contact with David Reynolds saw the reigning champion slide into the tyre wall on lap three.

Any hope of getting the car back on track was over when the Kiwi brought his damaged car to a halt at pit lane entry.

The DNF saw van Gisbergen drop from second on the championship to fourth behind Brown and Chaz Mostert, while also allowing Feeney and Cameron Waters to bridge the points gap – the latter’s charge through the field from P10 to P4 contributing to his rise.

In the final race of the weekend, Brown would again overtake his pole sitting teammate, only this time it was right off the line as the Queenslander got the jump early.

The 24-year-old then produced a faultless run throughout the race to cross the finish line unchallenged and secure his third race win for the year in convincing fashion.

Shortly after, Kostecki was forced to defend his place from van Gisbergen, who was back in action thanks to his hardworking Triple Eight mechanics.

While van Gisbergen actually got the move done on the championship leader on lap 35, Kostecki ended up taking back the place three laps later with the positions remaining unchanged for the rest of the race.

Like van Gisbergen, Mostert managed to overcome a disappointing DNF to bank some good points with the Queenslander finishing both of today’s races in P6 – Will Davison taking out fifth in the first race and Jack Le Brocq grabbing fifth in the second.

Mostert’s two P6 finishes kept him third on the standings and above van Gisbergen, while Brown made up the most ground on his teammate with 87 points now the difference between the two.

The Repco Supercars Championship continues with the Darwin Triple Crown at Hidden Valley Raceway on 16-18 June.
