German Auto Show to raise funds for great cause

Thursday 20 July, 2023
The German Auto Show will take place at the Calder Thunderdome next month.
Victorians will have the opportunity to indulge in some of the greatest German vehicles on offer with the German Auto Show coming to Melbourne next month.

As a joint collaboration between the Volkswagen Club of Victoria and the BMW Drivers Club Melbourne, the event will take place at the Calder Park Thunderdrome and will see a unique range of German-built marquees involved.

Car enthusiasts will have the opportunity to attend the event for as little as a gold coin donation but are also invited to bring along their own vehicles to add to what is already building up to be an incredible celebration of German manufacturing.

With there being plenty of interesting and unique vehicles to prosper at throughout the day, prizes will be handed out in recognition of the people's choice, presidents' choice and the best of each marquee.

The BMW Motorrad are also celebrating 100 years of the R32 motorcycle in 2023, giving attendees an insight of the incredible German two-wheeler and its history.

The event will get underway at 10:00am AEST and there will be plenty of food and trade stands to entertain people of all ages on the day.

All raised funds will be donated to the Beyond Blue Foundation to raise awareness of depression, anxiety, suicide prevention and to encourage people to speak up and seek support when needed.

Last year, the event amassed an impressive $10,500, and there is optimism of doubling that total in 2023.

Vice President of the BMW Drivers Club, Jo Mawson is looking forward to bringing the event back to the Calder Park Thunderdrome.

“It's going to be an amazing day, and what better place to celebrate German vehicles than at such a historic venue,” Mawson said.

“With all funds going towards a great cause, I highly encourage everyone to come along and put in a gold coin donation, or even bring along their own German vehicles and contribute to such an incredible showcase of cars and bikes.

“Last year we were able to raise over $10,000, and this year we believe we can gather even more with thousands of dollars already raised.”
